The Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership is a recognised qualification to improve the overall delivery of the physical education curriculum within primary schools. The aim of this qualification is to up skill primary school teachers to enable them to lead the delivering of the primary school physical education curriculum. On successful completion of this qualification, delegates will be able to take subject leadership within primary school physical education teaching and deliver sustainable high quality primary school physical education.
This qualification builds on the learning of the Level 5 Certificate in Primary School Physical Education Specialism by teaching delegates how to lead sustainable development within primary school physical education. This includes understanding the roles and responsibilities of a physical education subject lead, being able to determine the quality of provision, and being able to design, lead the implementation of, review and revise a targeted strategy to develop primary school physical education and its sustainability.
The Level 6 Award in Primary School Physical Education Subject Leadership consists of one unit of work. Please refer to the qualification specification for details of this unit.
The average learning time for this qualification is 38 hours (this includes approximately 18 Guided Learning Hours and 20 Notional Learning Hours). However, various factors such as the delegate/tutor ratio, the number of delegates and the experience levels of the delegates will influence the time allocated to the delivery of any given course.
